The Lanna cultural artists of Viang Kaew are dedicated to their local
culture and are eager to preserve it for generations to come.

Once a culture is lost it can never be recovered and all the local
knowledge and wisdom built up over thousands of years is lost to
posterity.

While it is our duty at Viang Kaew to preserve our local culture, it is
also clear that our culture must be revitalized, in order to survive,
with modern energy more suited to the character and attitudes of
modern society, in particular young people.

Lanna culture is a living entity and not something immutable to be
preserved in a museum. It has always been open to new ideas and
neighboring societies. It is natural and down to earth moving with
the times.

At Viang Kaew we recognize this dynamic nature of Lanna culture
and when the situation merits, we encourage our creative artists to
come up with new and exciting interpretations of traditional Lanna
culture.
